Haizara is my first self-published game, third to be made available for download. It is currently available on Gamejolt and itch.io. It was released in April of 2015, and written in a week for “Twiny Jam“, a Twine-based game jam by Porpentine. The game itself was based on the look and aesthetic of old Tiger LCD handheld games. The original version was silent with text and static images, downloadable release included sound, a Gamejolt achievement, and had the ability to “push” the buttons on the game console.

Also, the name itself is an obscure reference to an untranslated word in the NES game Bump-And-Jump. Regardless of the meaning (ashtray), I thought it was a cool sounding word when I was a kid and resolved to name my first released video game that.

There is a Storify thread of my in-development tweets about the game here.
